US Coast Guard Searching for Missing After Suspected Smuggling Ship Capsizes
Man Found Clinging to Capsized Ship, 39 Reported Missing
On January 25 a man was found clinging to a capsized ship near Fort Pierce, Florida by a Good Samaritan who called the US Coast Guard to report once he rescued the individual.
There are a suspected 39 others missing who were said to have been on the boat with the man sailing from the Bahamas to the Florida coast in the US, but he stated that no life jackets were supplied and the ship encountered sever weather.
The man was suffering from dehydration and sun exposure and was transported to a local hospital.
The US Coast Guard have been searching an area of an estimated 135 miles by air and sea in search of the missing. They believe this to be suspected human smuggling case.
