On December 20 while patrolling the North Arabian Sea, conducting a standard search during a flag verification boarding a stateless fishing vessel, the US Coast Guard was to have located a mass amount of weapons and ammunition which appeared to be on route to Yemen.

US Coast Guard personnel from the USS Tempest (PC 2) and USS Typhoon (PC 5) located 1,400 AK-47 assault rifles and 226,600 ammunition rounds on the ship that was coming from Iran and suspiciously traveling a route known for unlawful use.

All five crew members aboard were from Yemen as they were nationals therefore they will be returned.

The weapons and ammunition were confiscated and transferred to the USS O’Kane (DDG 77).

The fishing vessel was then purposely destroyed to sink in the waters.
