Explosion Reported at Saudi Aramco, Jeddah

Dryad Global reports a tanker and one other vessel were involved in an explosion at Saudi Aramco, Jeddah. The tanker is the Singaporean flagged MT BW Rhine (IMO9341940). All 22 crew are reported to be safe and the fire has been doused.

With ongoing conflict in area, there is a possibility that a mine or a waterborne IED was involved. Houthi and Iranian elements have both been involved in incidents in the area, and the region remains a flashpoint.

UKMTO has been informed that the Port of Jeddah is closed.
