Video: Fire aboard boxship in Port Klang still blazing
Fire crews are still battling a fire aboard the containership, Interasia Catalyst, report Malaysia authorities.
Authorities in Port Klang, Malaysia, say that efforts to contain and extinguish a fire aboard the containership, Interasia Catalyst are ongoing.
The fire broke out in containers stowed on deck just after the Interasasia Catalyst left Port Klang bound for Cochin, India. The vessel was ordered back to Port Klang anchorage to await firefighting teams from the Royal Malaysian Navy and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
The MMEA says three of the affected containers are laden with sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate, a compound found in laundry detergents and pesticides. No injuries have been reported.
