KSOE Developing Technology to Transport Hydrogen by Vessel

KSOE Researching Breakthrough Technology for Hydrogen Transport


Currently, transport for hydrogen takes place using pipelines and trucks due to the specifics of keeping the hydrogen at a certain temperature to contain its liquid form, but Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) is one step closer with creating a vessel equipped with the technology that can transport the cleaner fuel alternative by sea.

Vice President Yoo Byeong-yong with Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering’s (KSOE) Energy System Research Institute stated, “We already have developed a concept ship with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters.”

KSOE believes they will have this technology rolled out by 2025.

Yoo said, “We foresee the global hydrogen market will grow rapidly after 2030 and demand for ships will grow accordingly.”
