Centersource and consultant Charlie Pesti surveyed over 300 supply chain professionals. The survey found that respondents’ sourcing strategies are in duress as shipping copes with capacity and equipment issues brought on by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The survey is entitled “The State of the Freight 2021.” 85 percent of respondents said that their overall sourcing strategy was under some duress. 23 percent had diversified their sourcing over the last twelve months, as a further 33 percent said that they were “highly likely” to do so in the future.

“The State of The Freight 2021” is the first such report to categorize and detail the seismic shifts that are taking place in response to global volatility. The report is an industry must-read and an important catalyst for ongoing conversations about innovation and adaptation in the face of massive challenges,” said Amir Rashad, the chief executive officer and founder of Centersource.

About 90 percent of respondents were already likely to increase their collaborations with other supply chain stakeholders like freight carriers at sea and by a truck on a collaboration front.
