Carnival Reports 2

Carnival announced the ship was on its way to Belize from Galveston, Texas when the outbreak was announced.

27 positive cases were reported in which  26 of those  were crew members, and just one was a passenger.  Tourism officials say the whole group who tested positive had all received the proper vaccinations, and most are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms.

According to last week’s news, the Vista Cruise Line has some positive cases, but would not publish the amount.

In order to track all who were aboard the ship, contact tracing was launched for the 1,500 crewmembers and the 3,000 passengers which continued on its journey to dock in Belize .

No additional cases were reported or found, so the ship set sail onward to Cozumel, docking at the port on Aug 13.

This ship outbreak is among the worst that cruise vessels have had to face since trips resumed in the summer.

Carnival, in reaction, changed its mask regulations last week, mandating masks to be worn in some indoor spaces aboard their vessels. Beginning Aug 15, on all Carnival sailings regardless of vaccination status,  guests will be required to present documentation of a negative COVID-19 test in order to sail.
