Breaking News: Ferry sinks in rough seas near Bali

Rescuers are searching for 11 people missing in rough seas off the coast of Bali after the ro-ro ferry KMP Yunice sank approximately 30 minutes after leaving port.

Seven bodies have been recovered and 39 people were rescued, many of whom were unconscious after drifting in choppy waters for several hours.

The vessel was bound for Bali’s Gilimanuk port from East Java’s Ketapang port late on Tuesday. Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency said the vessel carried 41 passengers, 13 crew members and three canteen waiters.

Two tug boats and two inflatable have been searching for further survivors.
