The 2011-built, 3,678-cbm LPG carrier Inge Kosan has been quarantined on arrival in Australia. The BW Epic Kosan vessel hit the headlines after the death of one of its crewmembers triggered a national lockdown in Vanuatu.

The dead man was found washed up on a beach, but an autopsy has proved “inconclusive” said the Singaporean shipowner. The vessel is now in quarantine at anchor off Brisbane, Australia.

“While it is unfortunate that the autopsy report is inconclusive on his cause of death, we hope that the eventual findings from our investigation as well as the findings from an independent investigation by the Isle of Man Ship Registry will bring some closure to the bereaved,” BWEK chief executive Charles Maltby said.

The crew of the vessel have all received Covid tests, with 11 testing positive for antibodies and one testing negative. The Inge Kosan will be permitted to enter Brisbane on 11th May.
