Eletson Corp has hit trouble after a long series of arrests of its tankers by financial creditors. The difficulties have now spilled over to Eletson Gas, a separate, but affiliated company, after one of its mid-sized LPG carriers was arrested.

The 35,500-cbm Anafi was arrested on 28th May at Mumbai’s Nhava Sheva anchorage by Dubai-based Axiom Global and Gas Trading. Court documents show $374,000 outstanding for fuelling the Eletson Corp 69,400-dwt crude tanker Strofades.

Axiom’s lawyer, Shashank Agrawal of SSA Legal Gujarat said: “We have enforced our client’s rights in the appropriate forum and all other available remedies shall be duly exercised.”

He would not be drawn on how an Eletson Gas carrier could be held for a claim against an Eletson Corp crude tanker.
